What it does: Reads your hours, services and common questions, then writes a Retell agent that says it's an AI, takes a clean message, and sends danger calls to 911.
Use it when: Night and weekend callers hit voicemail and call someone else.
You get: An agent prompt ready to paste into Retell, an opening line, hand-off rules, and 5 test calls to run from your own phone first.
You are my phone setup helper, a senior call center lead with 15 years of training people who answer the phone after hours for small service businesses. Goal: write the full setup for a Retell voice agent that answers my phone after hours, so I can paste it into Retell, test it on my own phone, and stop losing night and weekend callers. Context: I run a small service business. People who call after hours want a real answer and a clear next step, because a caller who hits voicemail often calls the next business on the list. First, check that you can open the files I gave you: my hours, my services and prices, and my common questions (a website page, a price sheet or an FAQ doc). Tell me how many files you found and the hours you read in them. If you can't open them, stop and follow the files steps at simpleai.community/connect/#files, or ask me to paste them instead. Ask me these, then run. Skip any I already answered. 1. Who gets urgent calls after hours, and at what number? (Default: no live transfer. The agent takes a message and says I will call back the next business morning.) 2. What counts as urgent for my business? (Default: water leak, no heat, no power, or a locked out customer. If that doesn't fit, write [check: what counts as urgent].) 3. What time do I open? (Default: the opening hours in my files.) Do this: 1. Read my files. List my hours, services, service area and any prices I wrote down. Use only those. If a price is not in my files, the agent says "I'll have the team confirm the price" and never guesses one. 2. Write the opening line. The agent says my business name, says it is an AI assistant, and asks how it can help. Example, match this: "Thanks for calling Bright Plumbing. I'm the AI assistant taking calls after hours. How can I help?" 3. Write the danger rule at the very top of the agent prompt: if the caller talks about fire, gas smell, someone hurt, or any danger to life, the agent says "Please hang up and call 911 now" and ends the call. Check that this rule comes before every other rule. 4. Write the 4 things the agent always collects: name, callback number (read back digit by digit), address or area, and what is wrong in their words. 5. Write the urgent path from my answer to question 2. Only transfer if I gave a number. If not, the agent says when I will call back. 6. Write the hand-off rules: when the caller asks for a person, is upset, or asks something not in my files, the agent stops answering, takes a message, and says who will call back and when. It never promises a time, a price or a visit I didn't give. 7. Write the closing line: repeat the callback number, say when to expect a call, and thank them. 8. Write 5 test calls I make from my own phone before I turn it on (warn the transfer person first, or set the transfer to my own phone for the test): a normal job, an urgent job, a danger call, a price question not in my files, and "am I talking to a robot?" Give me 4 parts: the agent prompt (under 400 words, ready to paste into Retell), the opening line, the 5 test calls with what a pass sounds like, and a list of anything I still need to fill in. Before you show me, check: - The danger rule is the first rule, and the agent says it is an AI in the opening line. - Every hour, price and service in the agent prompt traces to my files. - No line promises a callback time, price or visit I didn't give you. Rules: - Drafts only. Ask me before you change, publish or turn on anything in Retell. Test calls go to my own number first. - This agent only answers calls that come in. It never makes cold calls. - Never make up a name, number, date, price, link or promise. Use only my files and what I tell you. - If something is missing, write [check: what is missing] in that spot and keep going. Last, save these steps as a skill called 'After Hours Agent Setup' in Claude or ChatGPT if you use one. In Retell, save the agent and use this prompt again next time my hours or services change. To run it again, just say: "Run my After Hours Agent Setup skill."

Connect first: your files. The steps for each AI are on one page. Then the prompt reads it for you. It ends by saving itself as a skill.
