Connect iMessage (through SendBlue) to Claude

Supported. custom MCP server (local)

What you need:

Built from each app's own docs.

Plan: Any Claude plan, in the desktop app.

  1. Create a SendBlue account. The free sandbox is for tests: up to 10 verified contacts, no first texts, no webhooks. A real line is the AI Agent plan, $100 a month per line.
  2. Get your SendBlue API key and secret from the dashboard.
  3. Open your Claude Desktop config file. On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json. On Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json.
  4. Add a server under mcpServers named sendblue_api, with command npx, args ["-y", "sendblue-api-mcp"], and an env block with SENDBLUE_API_API_KEY and SENDBLUE_API_API_SECRET. The keys go in this file, never in a chat.
  5. Quit and reopen Claude Desktop. The SendBlue tools show up.

Test it: Ask: show my 3 newest iMessage threads in SendBlue. Don't send anything.

What it can do: Send and read iMessage, SMS and MMS from your SendBlue line. Check if a number has iMessage.

What it can't do: Only text people who opted in. SendBlue's terms ban cold texts. The free sandbox can't send first texts or use webhooks.

Only text people who opted in. SendBlue's terms ban unsolicited texts, and so do TCPA and CASL. Open question for SendBlue: can an AI Agent line send the first text to an opted in person who hasn't texted it yet? Its pricing page says inbound first, its limits page says 200 outbound first contacts a day. SendBlue lists Claude Desktop as working but gives no steps for it. Desktop app only, not claude.ai on the web.

From sendblue.com and sendblue.com and docs.sendblue.com and sendblue.com and cal.com. Last checked Oct 28, 2026.

Never paste an API key into a chat. Use the app's connector screen.
