Connect iMessage (through SendBlue) to ChatGPT

What you need:

• ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu
• OpenAI's Secure MCP Tunnel
• A SendBlue account (free sandbox to test, AI Agent line $100 a month)
• SendBlue API key and secret, saved in the app's secret store
• Opt in from each person before your first text
• Node.js on the computer that runs the server (it starts with npx)

Plan: ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu, on the web, set up by an admin or owner. Pro can add servers that only read.

1. Create a SendBlue account. The free sandbox is for tests: up to 10 verified contacts, no first texts, no webhooks. A real line is the AI Agent plan, $100 a month per line.
2. Get your SendBlue API key and secret from the dashboard.
3. SendBlue's server runs on your own computer (npx -y sendblue-api-mcp). ChatGPT only reaches it through OpenAI's Secure MCP Tunnel. Set up the tunnel with OpenAI's tunnel guide.
4. In ChatGPT, open Plugins. Choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
5. Name it SendBlue. Under Connection, select Tunnel and pick your tunnel.
6. Tick I understand and want to continue. Select Create as a plugin.
7. In a new chat, type @ and pick SendBlue.

Test it: Ask: show my 3 newest iMessage threads in SendBlue. Don't send anything.

What it can do: Send and read iMessage, SMS and MMS from your SendBlue line. Check if a number has iMessage.

What it can't do: Only text people who opted in. SendBlue's terms ban cold texts. The free sandbox can't send first texts or use webhooks.

Only text people who opted in. SendBlue's terms ban unsolicited texts, and so do TCPA and CASL. Open question for SendBlue: can an AI Agent line send the first text to an opted in person who hasn't texted it yet? Its pricing page says inbound first, its limits page says 200 outbound first contacts a day.
