Short answer
How can AI help me handle sales objections?
AI helps you handle sales objections in two ways. First, it writes short, honest answers to the objections you hear most, each ending in a question so the talk keeps going. Second, it plays the buyer so you can practice saying those answers out loud before a real call. Give it the exact words buyers use, what you sell, and who you sell to, and it will give you answers you can say in one breath.
Steps
- 1
Write down the objections you actually hear.
Use the buyer's exact words. "We already have a guy for that" is more useful than "competitor objection".
- 2
Ask AI for short answers.
Use the first prompt below. Each answer should agree first, then ask a question.
- 3
Pick and change the answers.
Keep the ones that sound like you. Rewrite the rest in your own words.
- 4
Practice with AI as the buyer.
Have it throw objections at you, one at a time, and tell you what to fix.
- 5
Keep a living list.
After each day of calls, add any new objection and run it through the prompt again.

Answers to my real objections
I sell [what you sell] to [title] at [type of company]. Here are objections I hear, in the buyer's words: 1. [objection] 2. [objection] 3. [objection] For each one, write an answer I can say out loud in under 25 words. Start by agreeing or showing I heard them. Then ask one question that helps me learn the real reason. Be honest. No pushy tricks, no made up numbers, no "I understand how you feel, others felt, they found". Give 2 versions for each.
Find the real reason behind the objection
A buyer told me: "[what they said]" Context: [who they are, what I was selling, where we were in the call] List the 3 most likely real reasons behind this. For each, give one question I could ask to find out which one it is. Keep the questions short and friendly.
Objection practice round
Play a [title] at a [type of company]. I am selling you [what you sell]. Throw one objection at me at a time. Use real ones like [list 3 to 5 you hear]. Make them sound like a real person, short and a little annoyed. Wait for my answer. Then tell me in one line if it would work and why. Then give the next objection. After 6 rounds, give me my best answer and my weakest one.
Turn a lost deal into a lesson
Here are my notes from a deal I lost: [paste notes or the email where they said no] What objection killed this deal, even if they did not say it out loud? When in the process should I have brought it up? Write one question I can ask earlier next time. Keep it under 120 words.
Example
This is a made-up example.
Objection: "We already have a supplier for that."
A good answer: "Makes sense, most shops I call do. If something changed with them tomorrow, who would you call first?"
Objection: "Send me some info."
A good answer: "Happy to. So I send the right thing, what's the one part you'd want to see, price or how it works?"
Objection: "We don't have budget right now."
A good answer: "Fair. When does your next budget get set, and who's in that meeting?"
Each one agrees, stays short, and asks a real question.
Tips
- Say every answer out loud. If it feels like a script, change the words until it sounds like you.
- Ask the AI to make answers shorter. Shorter almost always sounds better on the phone.
- Keep your top answers on one page next to your phone.
- Some objections are a real no. If they tell you clearly they are not a fit, thank them and move on.
- More ready answers are in the objection prompts and best answers.
What not to do
- Do not argue. You can win the point and lose the buyer.
- Do not use old tricks like "if I could show you a way, would you buy today". Buyers hear them a mile away.
- Do not let AI make up proof, like "most of our clients save 30%". Only use results you can back up.
- Do not memorize 50 answers. Know 5 to 8 well.
FAQ
What are the most common sales objections?
Most come down to a few: no time, no budget, already have someone, send me info, and not interested. The exact words change by industry, so write down what your buyers actually say.
Can AI really help me practice?
Yes. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can play a buyer in a chat, and some apps let you talk by voice on some plans. Voice practice is closer to a real call, so try it if your app has it.
What if the objection is true?
Then say so. If they really are locked in a contract for a year, ask when it ends and if you can call before then. Honesty builds trust you can use later.
Should I handle objections by email the same way?
Same idea, shorter tone. Agree, add one useful fact or question, and end with a simple ask. Paste their email into AI and ask for a reply under 60 words.
