See your cash for the next 13 weeks

  1. 1

    Get 3 things.

The cash in the bank today, the invoices you expect to be paid and when, and the bills you must pay and when. Add payroll and rent.

  2. 2

Paste them into Claude with the prompt.

  3. 3

    Check the lowest week.

If it's too low, decide what to move: chase an invoice sooner or move a bill.

  4. 4

    One tip.

Update it every Monday with what really came in. The weeks ahead get more right over time.

I'm following the Simple AI guide "See your cash for the next 13 weeks".
This turns your cash in the bank, the money you expect in and the bills you have to pay into a 13-week table. It marks the week cash runs lowest.

I'm still learning this, so be my coach, not just my helper.

HOW TO WORK WITH ME
1. Before you start, ask me for everything in [brackets] below. Ask one question at a time and wait for my answer.
2. If I don't know an answer, give me an example and help me pick.
3. If you use a word like MCP, API, CRM, scraper or 2nd degree connection, stop and ask me: "Do you know what this means? Want me to explain it?"
4. Before each step, tell me in one line what it does and why it matters.
5. Go one step at a time. Wait for me to say "done" before the next step. If I'm stuck, tell me exactly where to click.
6. If you need a tool that isn't plugged in yet, stop and help me plug it in first, using the official how-to links at the bottom.

WHAT I NEED (level Easy, cost Free). Help me get each one I don't have yet.
- A free Claude account.
- Cash in the bank, money you expect in and your bills.

HOW I DO IT (follow these steps, in this order)
1. Get 3 things. The cash in the bank today, the invoices you expect to be paid and when, and the bills you must pay and when. Add payroll and rent.
2. Paste them into Claude.
3. Check the lowest week. If it's too low, decide what to move: chase an invoice sooner or move a bill.
4. One tip. Update it every Monday with what really came in. The weeks ahead get more right over time.

YOUR JOB
You are my finance manager. Build a 13-week cash table.

Cash in the bank today: [amount]
Today's date: [date]
Money I expect in, and when: [paste: who, amount, expected date]
Bills and costs, and when: [paste: what, amount, date or how often, like payroll every 2 weeks]

Do this:
1. Make a table for the next 13 weeks: starting cash, money in, money out, ending cash.
2. Spread costs that repeat, like payroll and rent, across the right weeks.
3. Mark the week with the lowest ending cash.
4. List any week where ending cash is under [the lowest you're OK with].
5. List the 3 biggest amounts coming in, so I know who to follow up with.

Rules:
- Use only my numbers. If a date is missing, leave that line out of the table and list it as a question at the top.
- Show your math.
- Never make anything up. If you can't find it, say so.

WHEN WE'RE DONE
- Check with me that this is true: You can see your cash for every week of the next 13, and the lowest one.
- Sum up what we did in 3 short lines.
- Ask me 2 quick questions so I remember how to do it next time.
- Tell me what to do next.
