Question: Which power dialer should a small sales team use?

A small sales team should try Trellus first. It's a power dialer that logs every call into your CRM, it costs $99.99 a month on its Power plan, and you don't need a big team to start. Skip Orum unless you have 9 or more reps, since it has a 9 seat minimum and no public price. Skip Nooks unless you're a bigger team ready for a custom quote. No paid links. No tool paid to be here.

## Steps

1. **Test it with your own list, not their demo.** Load a list you were going to call anyway. A demo shows the dialer on a perfect day. Your list shows you a normal Tuesday.
2. **Connect your CRM first.** The point of a dialer is that every call, outcome and note lands in your CRM without you typing it. Make one test call and check that it shows up.
3. **Dial for a full week.** Count dials, live pickups and real conversations each day. One day is too noisy to judge.
4. **Check 50 contacts by hand.** Open 50 logged calls and make sure the outcome is right. A call marked voicemail that was really a person is a problem you want to catch early.
5. **Pay month to month or pay as you go before you sign a yearly deal.** Trellus has a monthly price. Orum and Nooks need a sales call, so ask for a monthly option or a trial before you sign.
6. **Drop it if more than 20% is wrong.** That's Kevin Hopp's rule. If 1 in 5 logged calls has the wrong outcome or never reaches the CRM, your reports will lie to you.

**What people say:** G2: 4.8 out of 5 from 14 reviews (shown in a search result for [G2's Trellus page](https://www.g2.com/products/trellus-real-time-cold-call-ai-assistant/reviews), read Oct 28, 2026). SoftwareFinder: 5 out of 5 from 1 review (read Oct 28, 2026).

"it takes care of the whole process quickly." ([Zoe Wood on SoftwareFinder](https://softwarefinder.com/call-center/trellus/reviews))

Most common praise: it fits into the CRM and tools you already have, and the call coaching helps. Most common complaint: there are only a few public reviews, so it's hard to judge from reviews alone.

### Orum: skip unless you have 9+ reps

- **Price:** No public price. 9 seat minimum. Free trial of 500 dials (checked Oct 28, 2026).

**What people say:** G2: 4.6 out of 5 from 793 reviews (shown in a search result for [G2's Orum page](https://www.g2.com/products/orum), read Oct 28, 2026). SoftwareFinder: 4.8 out of 5 from 45 reviews (read Oct 28, 2026).

"The auto dial feature is definitely the standout for me." ([Josh L. on SoftwareFinder](https://softwarefinder.com/call-center/orum/reviews))

"At times the number shows up as spam." ([Max S. on SoftwareFinder](https://softwarefinder.com/call-center/orum/reviews))

Most common praise: it gets you through a lot of dials fast. Most common complaint: calls get flagged as spam or marked as voicemail or no answer by mistake.

### Nooks: skip unless you're a bigger team

- **What it does:** A dialer for sales teams, sold on a custom quote.
- **Price:** No public price, custom quote (checked Oct 28, 2026).
- **Fits:** Bigger sales teams with a budget and a manager to run it.
- **Skip it if:** You want a price you can see before a sales call.

We haven't used this one yet.

**What people say:** G2: 4.8 out of 5 from 1,629 reviews (shown in a search result for [G2's Nooks page](https://www.g2.com/products/nooks/reviews), read Oct 28, 2026). We couldn't open the review text itself today, so no quotes.

Most common praise: from the summaries we could read, an easy screen and calling more than one number at a time. Most common complaint: dropped calls, slow connects and wrong numbers that don't get flagged.

## Prompts you can copy

### Check if the dialer is logging calls right

```prompt
I'm testing a power dialer. Here are 50 calls from it, with the outcome the dialer logged and what really happened (from my notes or the recording): [paste rows].
Count how many outcomes were wrong, by type (for example marked voicemail but was a person). Tell me the percent that was wrong and if it's over 20%. Then list the 3 most common mistakes in plain words.
```

### Compare two dialers after a test week

```prompt
I tested two dialers for one week each with the same reps and the same kind of list.
[Dialer A]: [dials], [live pickups], [real conversations of 60 seconds or more], [meetings booked], cost [price].
[Dialer B]: [dials], [live pickups], [real conversations], [meetings booked], cost [price].
Tell me the cost per real conversation and per meeting for each, and which one I should keep. Remind me if one week is too small to be sure. Under 150 words.
```

### Questions to ask a dialer sales rep

```prompt
I'm talking to a sales rep for [dialer name]. My team is [number] reps calling [type of buyer], and our CRM is [CRM name].
Write 8 short questions to ask. Cover: price per seat, seat minimums, contract length, free trial, how calls log into my CRM, how they handle spam flags on our numbers, what happens if we cancel, and if I can test on my own list. One line each, plain words.
```

## FAQ

### What's a power dialer?

A tool that calls the next number on your list for you as soon as you hang up, and logs the call. You spend your time talking instead of typing numbers.

### Do I need a phone check before I use a dialer?

It helps. Dead and front desk numbers waste dials. See our [phone check tools ranking](/blog/phone-check-tools-ranked/) for how to clean a list first.

### Why don't Orum and Nooks show a price?

They sell through a sales call and a custom quote. Ask about seat minimums and contract length before you get excited about a demo.

### How many pickups should I expect?

It depends on your list and who you call. On our own team, about 1 in 10 dials on Trellus got a live pickup from May to Aug 2026. Track your own number for a week.
