Question: Can an AI call my new leads back for me?

Yes, an AI voice agent like Chloe in Close, Retell or Vapi can call each new lead within minutes, ask one question and book the meeting. Only call people who ticked a box saying an AI can call them, and leave price talk to a real person.

## Why call new leads back so fast?

People who just filled in your form are thinking about you right now. An hour later they are back at work and your call is one more number they don't know. In The Sales Acceleration Formula, Mark Roberge says reps "should work inbound leads within minutes of conversion" (source: The Sales Acceleration Formula, Chapter 12). Most small teams can't do that by hand. An AI voice agent can, and it doesn't take lunch.

## Is it OK to have an AI call my leads?

Only if they said yes first. In the US, the FCC ruled in February 2024 that AI voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA, the main phone sales law. So sales calls to cell and home phones usually need the person's OK in writing first. Canada has its own consent rules. This is not legal advice, so check the rules where you and your leads are. Never point an AI caller at a cold list.

Chloe always says she is an AI and that the call is recorded, and you can't turn that off. We read that in Close's docs on Sep 22, 2026.

## Steps

1. **Pick your tool.** If your leads already live in Close, use Chloe. Calls from Close workflows need the Growth plan, $109 a user a month. Retell, Vapi and Bland start at $0 and charge by the minute. Prices are from our [Chloe](/t/chloe/), [Retell](/t/retell/), [Vapi](/t/vapi/) and [Bland](/t/bland/) pages, checked Oct 29, 2026.
2. **Know what it can't do.** Chloe only makes calls. She can't pick up when someone calls you. She calls US and Canada numbers, in English (Close's docs, read Sep 22, 2026).
3. **Add a consent box to your form.** Leave it unticked. Say who will call, that it is an AI, and that the call is recorded. A box people tick on their own is your proof.
4. **Write a short script with one question.** A hello line, why you're calling, one question, then the booking step. Use the first prompt below.
5. **Set the call hours.** In Close, calls from a workflow are not held to daytime, so set the hours yourself. We call weekdays, 9 to 5 in their time zone.
6. **Say what happens after each call.** "Do not call" stops all calls for good. "Wants a person" makes a task for you today. Every call gets a short note on the lead.
7. **Test it on your own phone.** Then read the first 10 call notes and fix the script. Our [Chloe guide](/inbound/chloe/) walks through the Close side click by click.

## Prompts you can copy

### Write the call script

```prompt
You are my sales manager. I'm setting up an AI voice agent to call people who just filled in my form.
What I sell: [what you sell]
Who the form is for: [who fills it in]
My booking link: [link]
Write the agent's script:
1. A hello that says its name, that it is an AI assistant for [my company], and that the call is recorded.
2. One line on why it is calling: they just filled in our form.
3. One question only: [the one thing you most want to know before the meeting].
4. Then book a time on my link, or offer to email the link.
5. If they say stop or do not call, say sorry, end the call and mark them do not call.
Rules: plain words a 5th grader knows. Short sentences. Never talk price, results or dates I didn't give you. If they ask about price, say a person will cover it on the call.
```

### Write the consent box

```prompt
Write the words for an unticked consent box on my booking form.
My business: [business name]
The AI caller's name: [name]
Why it calls: [for example, to confirm the time and ask one prep question]
It must say, in plain words:
1. That an AI assistant may call the number they typed in.
2. Why it calls.
3. That calls are recorded.
4. That the box is optional and they can book without it.
Keep it under 40 words. No legal words. Then list what I should check with the rules where my leads live.
```

### Check the first 10 calls

```prompt
Here are the notes from my AI caller's first 10 calls: [paste notes]
For each call, tell me:
1. Did it say it was an AI and that the call was recorded?
2. Did it ask the one question, and what was the answer?
3. Did it book a time, send the link, or end the call?
4. Did it say anything I didn't give it, like a price or a promise?
Then give me the one change to the script that would help the most, in one line.
```

## What can go wrong?

- If you don't set the call hours, a lead who fills in your form late at night can get a call late at night.
- Some booking pages fill in answers from the link itself. Never share a booking link that has the consent answer built in. We made that a rule on Oct 25, 2026.
- The same person can show up on two leads. If they said stop on one lead and book again with a new email, check the phone number across all your leads before the AI calls.
- People hang up on a quiz. We cut our agent down to one question on Oct 25, 2026.

## How do we use it?

On Oct 25, 2026, we set Chloe up to call only people who book a sales call with us and tick the box. She stays switched off until that consent box is live on our booking page. She waits at least 15 minutes after they book and never calls within 2 hours of the meeting. She says she is an AI, confirms the time and asks one question: "What's the one thing you most want to fix in your sales right now?" She hasn't made calls yet, so we have no pickup or show rate to share, and we won't make one up.

## FAQ

### Can Chloe answer my phone when I miss a call?

No. Chloe only makes calls. A missed call can start a quick call back instead. Retell, Vapi and Bland can also take calls, so look at those if you need the phone answered.

### Do I have to tell people it is an AI?

Chloe always does, and you can't switch it off. With any tool, say it in the first line. Hiding it is a fast way to lose trust.

### What does an AI voice agent cost?

It depends on the tool. Chloe needs Close Growth at $109 a user a month, per our [Chloe page](/t/chloe/), checked Oct 29, 2026. Retell, Vapi and Bland charge by the minute. See all our [voice agent tools](/c/voice/).

### Should the AI talk about price?

No. Have it book the meeting and leave price, terms and promises to a person. That keeps it from saying something you have to take back.
